This calculator is a planning aid for trained stalkers, not a substitute for fieldcraft, training, or judgement. You are responsible for every shot. Verify that your ammunition meets the legal calibre, bullet, and energy requirements for your species and jurisdiction; that your rifle is correctly zeroed for the ammunition you are using; and that any shot you take is safe, ethical, and within your competence.
Ballistic data is from manufacturers' test barrels. Test barrels are typically 24″ and may not match the velocity or accuracy of your rifle, which is often shorter. Real-world drops will differ from the calculator's predictions, sometimes by enough to miss at range. Chronograph your loads where possible and re-zero whenever you change ammunition, even between two loads with similar nominal specs.
Trajectories are computed using standard G1/G7 drag models and ICAO standard atmosphere where conditions are not provided. Wind drift is resolved from the wind direction you set, so a quartering wind drifts the bullet proportionally less than a full crosswind of the same speed. Predictions become unreliable as the bullet approaches transonic velocity (~1125 fps); the calculator will warn you when this applies. Statutory thresholds reflect UK deer law as encoded at the data version shown — the law can change, and the stalker should check the current statutory text for borderline shots.
